Tips & Tricks: Add a guest account to your PC
Why would you want to use two or more user accounts?
Windows allows you to establish separate accounts for each person who uses your computer. But if the only people who use your computer are family, why would you establish separate accounts for each person? Setting up separate accounts for each person who uses your computer provides the following benefits:
- Each person can customize the way Windows and the desktop looks
- Each person can have their own list of Favorites and recently visited Web sites in Internet Explorer
- Each person can keep his or her files in private folders
- Each person can share files of their choosing with others
- One or more adults in the family can protect important computer settings and prevent people from taking actions that can damage the computer or make it inconvenient for others. For example, do your children or grandchildren like to “play with your computer,” leaving things in a shambles? You can set up a view of the computer just for them. They don’t “mess” with your stuff and you don’t mess with theirs!
